Picked this up for $100. Ron Pope lists this variety in his excellent Buffalo nickel abraded die variety reference (1917-S ADO 2F - page 39). The variety is listed as very scarce with 126-250 known in all grades in his study. Most of these grade Fine or lower. I think this grades higher.

Thoughts? Thanks!

I love it! That's a really nice coin! I'm still looking for my first 2 feather of any date or grade. It's only been FIFTY years of searching, so I think I'm due, right?
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

I've found a bunch of 2 feathers that were either dateless or acid dated, usually I put them back into the pot.

This came in. Has bright colorful toning in orange, blue and purple which I was not able to capture. Coin appears to have a couple of lamination flaws in the planchet above the date and below the knot in the obverse. Thoughts?
