Took a break from the error coins to look at some of the regular stuff I got today and needed to go through. Found this one along with a 1938-S RPM-001 among some UNC coins. Not super nice but this is a fairly tough RPM to find. For some reason it seems that all examples of this RPM have fairly extreme distortion (MD?) on them. I put arrows on the RPM as otherwise it is a bit confusing what is going on there. 1939-S/S Lincoln Wheat cent RPM-001 (northwest) - Stage B

I can definitely see how someone giving it a casual glance tossing it back thinking it MD. Nice addition to the collection!

Thanks all for the kind words!
And Stoneman you got me on that one. The doubling on the eye is very hard to see on this coin, so I checked the one I just pulled out when I upgraded to this one and sure enough it is quite visible on that one which is an earlier die stage. Looked it up and the coin is listed as WDDO-002, WRPM--001. So added a doubled die without even finding anything new! Thanks for the info.

It not a MD issue as all the examples I've seen on the sites show the same device distortions. Note sure what that is all about?
