I think this coin may be Alexander III or Philip II of Macedonia. 18mm and 3.2g. There's text over the horse but I can't make it out. Any thoughts?

Is it the bust that makes you think it's Philip II?

I know this was not addressed to me, but if you have Apollo and a horseman of bronze this size you have Alexander the greats father Philip II of Macedonia. I agree with our host.

Ok, so it's the size driving the attribution?

Size, Pattern, and Even Letters are visible. See comparison of a Philip II I made with your coin on top and the comparison CNG attributed coin below it.

If the gold stater is impossible due to cost, then this is the coin to get.
Probably a better bet anyway, because a gold stater purchase needs to be authenticated in every case.
