I bought the red "bible" as per the advice of the gentleman that running the local coin shop. Ive found that the prices listed in the book are not the same as PCGS website. How do I know how much what I have is worth?

The Red Book is a decent outline for retail pricing of raw coins. Though it isn't nearly as accurate with the cheaper, under $5, stuff. PCGS is using slabbed coins, which are often more liquid. For raw coins I tend to use the grey sheet, which has accurate to the minute pricing for all coins.

The greysheet is a price guide published by CDN. Check it out here. coinprices.com
That's just the fre version that shows retail. The paid version shows suggested amounts you should offer.

Red Book is good for coin info, not values. TPG's pricing is always a bit high. For realistic prices check ebay sold values and http://www.numismedia.com/rarecoinprices/fmv.shtml

Start by telling us what you are interested in.
Then we'll be better able to point you to the best possible pricing sources.

Your RedBook is good for general pricing information (in addition to all the other information). It will tell you if one coin is more valuable than another. For actual pricing information I use Greysheets and ebay sold listings.

It vastly depends on how common your material is and how liquid.

RedBook is typically 12-18 months out of date (the 2020 book went to press in 1Q2019 and has been for sale since the end of 2Q2019)... And at best the prices are high (full) retail.

PCGS' site (and NGS' also) are for their own plastic and IMNSHO they are a little proud of their plastic.

Since any fool can purchase the greysheet, the game becomes dealers paying less than greysheet to buy so they can sell at greysheet and still make money. This peaked just before the new owners took over and raised the price of the greysheet and did away with the single-copy sales. But you can still get your hands on a current or month-old copy without much work...
