Found this 1959 D and on the reverse on the word United looks like it may be a G or maybe just an open D ? Penny is pretty dirty. Thanks in advance for any opinions.

Ouch. That coin took a hard hit. It looks like something took out the back of the D making it look like another letter. The corrosion around the letters is covering up any metal that may have been displaced into the fields. Sorry, just a damaged coin. It's a spender.
