Hello All - I am new here and I've been trying to research all my coins that I've accumulated for a while. I found this one in my change jar and thought it was very unique. Was hoping someone could enlighten me on what all is going on with this coin? In some angles and lighting the R in Trust looks backwards. There's a whole in ear area which on the obverse is where the Eagles leg is and it looks like it was melted or something there. Also, the R in Trust looks like it was doubled maybe? The entire "In God We Trust" has a lot going on. I have no clue of the correct terminology. Please help!

It certainly is unique but it all looks like post-mint damage to me. I would think what ever bent the rim slipped across the obverse and took chunks out of in God we trust. The hole looks like some one tried to punch a hole through, or did and filled.it.

Your coin is heavily circulated with several severe damages, nicks, dings and hit,it's safe to let it go.

It looks like a hit across the letter R in TRUST has moved the metal making it look doubled. It's just part of the PMD mentioned in the other replies. Just worth 25¢.
