Just wanted to share these toned proof nickels I picked up for basically face value from the LCS yesterday. Ive never seen toning quite like the one on the left. My question is, which one do you like better?

There's something about irredescent coloring I cant resist. If it progresses,

it lends way to some very vibrant pinks, greens, even lilac. Back in the day, I bought a pf roll

of mixed '60s era nics from Cheapslabs. Probably the nicest purchase ever made from them.

The '69S--just the right amount of circumferential toning (to my eyes, anyway).

Beautiful transitional toning as seen here is not stable.
They will change in the medium to long term.
Eventually, they will all look like a standard dull gray.

The best way to slow down the progression to dull gray is to enclose them in airtights as soon as possible. Slabs OK, but not as environmentally secure as airtights.
Rest in Peace

The 1980-S has a unique toning for a proof Nickel in my opinion . Crazy but I like it .

While both are spectacular, my personall preference always gravitates towards blue and blue/green toned nickels. Thanks for sharing!
