Dei Gratia (Latin) translates to:
'By the Grace of God'
She is given to us as Queen by God's Grace.

'DG' (abbreviated from Dei Gratia), is seen on coins of the Spanish kings and queens.

For identification, if that is what you want, we really need the diameter as the British farthing, halfpenny and penny for 1856 all have very similar designs. I THINK, by the proportions, it is probably a farthing. Not a scarce year but reasonably decent condition. The penny for that year is one of the more difficult ones, so worth confirming the diameter.

Thanks - at 28mm diameter it is a Half Penny. Weight is about 9.2g - 92g would be enormous!
In that condition reasonably collectable though not scarce. I would expet it to make £5 to £10 on ebay.

He does say 'Thank you' at the end of each post but, yes, you're quite right Paddy.
