Hi All,

Seeking your help in identifying which variety this 1859 large cent falls under. I am leaning towards TP1 since the doubling of the 9s circle is higher than the others depicted in the photo from the charlton catalogue.

Let me know pls and thanks everyone javascript:insertsmilie('')

Can you post full obverse and reverse photos. There are other markers that will help identify the coin in addition to the 9.

You can also check in the Haxby catalog for help.

There are 2 different TP's that have been "officially" recognized, but yours doesn't appear to be a TP1. A full, exactly straight down at no angle will tell us alot, especially a full reverse shot.

Yep, it's a TP1. The D/C's at 11 & 13 are there. However, I never remember all of the overpunch inside the tail on the inner-right of the 9. I also don't know what's going on with the mess of(cracks?) at leaf 7 to the denticles. Nice coin, but it's led a hard life. Would Trend for less than $100 Cdn
