Three days ago I brought home from a local branch of Wells Fargo bank four rolls of pennies; I do this often. With magnifying glass and Lupe at the ready, lo and behold a remarkable find! The penny was a "die" chip error cent, 2004 D, and in raised detail it clearly depicts an eerie bullet-like projectile in flight toward the back of Lincoln's head, in about the exact trajectory depicted in most famous paintings of the incident!

There is a blemish (metallurgical discoloration) about the upper face and forehead region, resulting in a sort of reddish, quite ghoulish death mask appearance, with bloodied hair. I know...bizarre, right? BUT TRUE!

This penny would have gone unnoticed except I have recently become a collector of US coinage, and was on the lookout. The penny can be seen at <please post pics here>, or I can email it to you. This is a truly remarkable find! Possibly a unique specimen.

Any comments as to how to value the "cool" factor in this otherwise ordinary die chip error coin would be appreciated. The obverse is in excellent shape, and the reverse is in nearly perfect shape.

Sincerely,
JD

I have uploaded the picture here. Not everyone is going to have a MySpace account needed to view photos there...

Thank you so much! I'm too new here to even know how to post a pic on the thread. Well done!
