Following inspiration from a recent thread by @justinokay http://goccf.com/t/291670), and then purchase of Göbl's book on Sasanian Numismatics, I recently picked up this Drachm of Hormizd II. It is attributed as Göbl #83.

A lovely Sasanian add. Fully struck and well-centered especially on the reverse. Bob will like this one. :)

Very nice example Dave, I still haven't gotten around to getting one of his yet. Haven't been buying many coins this year.

Thx guys. The crown is my favorite part of this coin, and the wide variety of crowns are honestly, perhaps my favorite aspect of the whole series of Sasanian coins.

Nice looking coin Spence!
Great detail on both sides...The attendants faces especially the one on the left ...
I've often pondered whether one of the attendants is depicting the king himself? with beard and Korymbos?

Super addition to your collection congrats!...Paul

PS..The link doesn't seem to be working?

Yes very good point @palouche. Göbl only mentions that the attendant now face toward the royal fire, but the headgear on the left attendant clearly matches Hormizd II's crown.

As to the broken link, I'm not sure why that previous CCF thread seems to have disappeared.
