AU-58. Eye Appeal 5/10.

The scattered toning makes this a hard coin to grade from photos only. But the head hair on the obverse appears to have slight rub.

That's usually not a clencher on a 53, but this one has super strong even strike which can't account for that head lacking details.

I would agree with mox that it is in the AU range. I'm not as sure on the exact number.

I'll throw the loop. MS61. I see what they're going off of, but I think it's more of a striking issue then a wear one.

The toning makes it really hard to grade. I think the only way to grade this one accurately is to see it in person.

I'm at AU-55, but it's a tough call. The Half Dimes didn't have that much striking detail.

Dark toning makes it tough in photos and in hand. Ya never know what evil lurks in the dark!
