1974 Lincoln Memorial Cent / LMC PCGS MS-65 Grease Strikethrough?

The goal is to complete it with all PCGS MS65 or better coins, but I may not be able to afford that in the older coins. Regardless, I bought this 1974 LMC for the set. The "o" in "of" is very flat as is part of the "f". Everything else around it looks strongly stamped. Is this PMD, or is this a grease strikethrough, or something else I have not considered? * Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. * Report this Post to the Staff

Would the strikethrough error would have been taken into account by PCGS and be one of the reasons this coin was only graded MS65? Report this Post to the Staff

Yokozuna Pillar of the Community United States 4618 Posts	Posted 10/13/2019 09:29 am Remember that any of the lettering on the reverse that is opposite Lincoln's chest and shoulder tends to strike up poorly. The metal is pressed into the deep design of the obverse leaving the reverse design weak. Your coin looks like it does have a small strike through error in addition to the above and maybe slightly misaligned dies. I've heard that TPGs will lower the grade slightly for either of these problems, but I don't know that for sure. The coin could have graded lower if they considered these as distractions.
