Yeah, it was a chance discovery that I happen to read the other person's subreddit post and I remembered that I just recently found a very similar one in one of my penny roll hunts. Got me excited that there was another penny in the same batch.

My guess, if in fact, it was struck through an object stuck to the die, most likely other examples exist. I don't see any identifying markers, a full shot of the second example would be very helpful.
I personally agree that it appears as a struck through.

I meant a closeup of the date and bow tie area. That way I can see if anything is flattened.

Could it be struck through thick gritty grease?

Unfortunately, I'm not too familiar with the varieties of struck through errors.

Really nice closeups. Very clear.

It does appear that whatever it was stuck through did move a little. It was probably grease, as the shape changes as well.

Your appears slightly smaller, so I'd venture to guess your's was struck first. Subsequent strikes would have spread the grease out some.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.

Thanks!

Could be, if ever there was a way to find the other pennies from the same batch.

Looks more like a struck through. Not seeing any flattening on the obverse. What did happen on the obverse is over polishing that reduced the bot tie and the jacket.

Just wanted to give a little update here. Whatever this was struck through apparently stuck to the die for quite a few seconds. There are around 40-50 of these out there now. Just saw another one pop up on Facebook.
