Need your thoughts on this 2018 penny I found. Thanks!! I also just found out on Reddit that someone has another 2018 penny with the same exact error on the shield. Pretty interesting. Here's the photo of the other person on Reddit: Edited by bluehuntscoins 10/14/2019 12:38 pm

It looks like a struck through error from where I'm sitting. It's incuse not raised right? It's a real cool find if it is a struck through.

Yep, it's recessed! Cool, and it's a big struck through too. Does that mean that these 2 pennies were struck at around the same time with the same die?

Would this be valuable if ever? I guess it's not worth grading right?

@coop there is no break in the plating. I don't see any of the zinc. I can post a closer photo later after work.
@John1 the photo on reddit is the 3rd photo in my original post. Thanks!

Excellent struck through finds ! Something was definitely stuck to the reverse die to produce these two coins. Keep them together as a pair as it will definitely increase their interest and value.

Unfortunately, I don't own the 3rd photo. I found it on reddit and I've communicated to the owner that we have the exact strike through error on our 2018 pennies. lol thanks!!

They do look a bit different. Make sure to put yours in a 2x2. John1

Yep, just a slight difference but must be because the "thing" stuck to the die moved a bit during striking? Yeah, it's already in a 2x2 for safekeeping. It's now a part of my errors and varieties collection. lol

Looks like a struck through to me as well. Really cool to see that there are two extreme examples known that are clearly from the same die where the debris did not shift much, that happening let alone being discovered is probably very rare.
