1968 S Penny Mint Mark? - Coin Community Forum

Abraham1 New Member United States 28 Posts	Posted 10/17/2019 11:43 am The us mint used the trumpet tail mint mark(004 variety vista) from 1941 to 1952 and tall mint mark(008) from 1952 to 1974. I submitted pics of my 1968 S penny and an example of the 004 and 008. Which mint mark is my coin? Thanks! Report this Post to the Staff

Abraham1 New Member United States 28 Posts	Posted 10/17/2019 2:05 pm Unless it was very common for this to happen; trumpet tail was for the years 1941 to 1952. The 1968 should be 008 the tall mint mark. It was more likely to happen with hand punched mint marks call it human error. Even so, would it not be a mint error? Report this Post to the Staff
