I have a 1999 ct quarter missing clad layer on reverse. Has clad layer on obverse. I saw on youtube video one sold for over 400 dollars. Thoughts?

Your coin show silver coming though the highest devices on your coin. A missing clad would be a darker red in color. Also the strike would be weaker because of the missing cladding.

As already mentioned above, your coin is an outdoor find. (metal detector find.

This is a quarter that lost a clad layer before the strike. The center copper layer became the obverse of the coin. This coin weighs 4.67 grams, so the missing copper/nickel layer would have weighed about 1 gram. The missing layer caused the strike to be a little weak, but the coin shows mint luster on both the copper and clad layers.
