My Monday was rough. Between dropping boxes on myself, missing busses, loosing my stuff and failing a quiz that was fun. On to today. I got off of school and went to head to work with no event.
Here's where it gets crappy. I get to Downtown Silver Spring and head off the bus to walk the 2 blocks to work. I'm on the phone with my dad and there's a large group of younger kids 10-17ish walking and talking. I go to walk around them and am pretty much dancing on the curb to a fairly busy road. Suddenly, one of the kids stops me and blocks my path, and gives me an angry look. That's when I realised, oh this probably isn't good, and proceeded to get haymaker'd in the face.I had the place of mind not to fall into the road. They ran off and I called 911. There was about a dozen of the kids in total with only 1 guy who hit me. They all ran off. Police managed to find them and detained the kid who did it. He was released to his mom at the scene with a "paper arrest" meaning he wasn't booked at the jail.
So, I'm at Holy Cross Hospital right now with a few nicely chipped teeth and a broken jaw. Having a wonderful time.
So, I might be more active, or less active, not sure yet. I may need surgery, they're figuring that out now. I don't have a court date yet, but it'll be in 30-90 days. Worst part is the kid admitted to it, didn't even care.
I've never seen them before, talked to them before, or anything. There has been an sharp uptick of gang activity in the area, which was already not great, in recent weeks following a string of robberies and the fatal shooting of a police officer.
Also, only after the fact I realised one of the other kids is a suspect in another strong arm robbery case. The same kid who hit me was also being searched for because 5 minutes prior he had beaten a 7/11 employee. Wonderful kids all around.
Long story short he got charged with 2ed degree assault and I'll persue restitution for the bills.
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
TLDR: I got jumped for no reason

Ouch. I have been jumped before (getting off a bus when I was a teenager). Not fun at all.

Sorry to hear that. I live in the DMV also. I know the area. I could say what I really feel but they would kick me off the CCF. Get well soon

@jbuck that sucks. The weirdest part is they didn't take anything. @keith12 I'm open to listening, shoot me a PM @mox yeah it does suck. Also, here's some food for thought. When I was in the ambulance I was talking to one of the officers and they were talking about how as of late the two predominant gangs in the area (bloods and crips) have been fighting way more than usual as of late. Downtown, where I work, is more crip territory, so it is feasible, that because I was wearing pictured below, they may have thought I was in the rival gang? I dunno just a hypothesis. Though, what gang member is walking around in a big bang theory zipup hoodie and slacks?

Thanks Mr.Frog. On the plus side, with the few days I have off of school because of this, I can finally have time to clean and reorganize my room and coin space.

I never could understand why someone would attack a complete stranger for no reason
I hope they get the maximum penalty, but they probably won't.
Where's Charles Bronson when you need him?
Hope your recovery goes well.

Whoa! That's not right! I'm so sorry to hear that this happened to you. Keep us updated on things and I hope you feel better quickly.
If you're on a liquid diet for a while, I have two words. Dr. Pepper Milkshakes. Wait! Three words. Dr. Pepper Milkshakes. Yeah. That's it. Milkshake is one word, right? They are all the rage at Whataburger back in Texas.
Ingredients 1 (16-oz.) bottle Dr. Pepper soft drink 3 cups vanilla ice cream How to Make It Step 1 Pour Dr. Pepper into a small saucepan over medium-high. Bring to a boil, and simmer until reduced to 1/4 cup, about 20 minutes.
Step 2 Let cool completely, about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Process ice cream and reduced Dr. Pepper in a blender until frothy, about 30 seconds

It is so sad that this happened to you. Good for you for trying to find a positive you can get out of this. I hope your recovery goes as smoothly (and painlessly) as possible and that you are able to get some justice when the case goes to court. The Dr. Pepper milkshakes sound like a yummy idea.

Those thugs better think twice about this stuff. They don't want the CCF crew paying them a visit! They make blips and cruds look like a kindergarten class.
Best wishes, buddy. Hope you're back in action very soon.

Such a sad story! I wish you better days GrapeCollects and I wish these kids get what they deserve. Kinda sad to have to wish this on KIDS but their family structure has failed on them. Bloods / crips wont ever pay their bills. Sadly they will end up in jail or shot. We here in canada may end up watching them on discovery channel or A&E ?!
