Can someone tell me what caused the last digit of the date to be practically missing?

I think it may be '9' but I'm Not certain.

The reason I ask is because the reverse looks like a WAM. If it is a 98 or 99 that would be cool.

It's a 99. So you did score even though the partially greased digest doesn't add to the value.

It could be a 1992 with a normal reverse. This is how the 1992 obverse die looks like:

I thinks it's a '99. The curve of the last digit is convincing me of this, because the 2 and 3 don't have the downward curve.
