Still in casing from the mint but I cannot find anything out there on this. Can anyone help

possibly a scratch on the die or a filing that fell onto the coin. better let someone with more experience answer this one...somebody rubbed his head for good luck!

@gmc, first welcome to CCF. Second, when I rotate, enlarge, and enhance you picture, I'm still a little unsure of what you have there. More specifically, I'm not positive that the region you are talking about is coming off of Abe's head. Also, I can't tell from this picture if this region is raised above or below the surface of the coin. Better pics would help us to distinguish between damage, a die crack, and a strike-through. Thx.

It looks to still be in mint packaging as well. Its possible its a plastic particle, dust, etc. I had received Proof Sets before where I needed to open the cases and blow them out with a can of dust off.

It is still in the mint packaging. I was hesitant to open it. I was able to get the top left corner of the package open enough to insert the straw end of a canned duster and could not get it to move. I eas able to get some dust out that I did not notice was encased with the coins. It appears to be above the surface of the coin. I will attempt getting some better pictures of it when I return home this evening. Since proof coins are handled individually and inspected when put in the cases, an error really should not exist right?
