I inherited a coin collection that was originally collected by my uncle before 1982. I am near Tulsa. The Magic Empire coin club has told me the best way to get a good value is to be a dealer for a weekend. I have a 1889 CC Morgan. Is it worth having graded so I do NOT have to get opinions at the show? Do not have a good camera. using the photo grade pictures is a minimum of VF grade.

This is a coin that should be graded based on value, IF it is authentic. It is one that the bad guys like to fake. The good guys here can most likely spot if it is authentic or fake, if you can get some half-way decent pictures.

If authetic that coin should always be graded and likely there will be others in the collection that should also be graded. Whatever you do if you are a novice do NOT get a table at a show. Other dealers will smell blood in the water and do their best to take anything of value from you cheaply, collectors as well. It's really the worst possible position a notice could be in and you would also be paying for a table to do so and then have to deal with sales tax and everything as well. ebay is a good option for cheaper stuff, the good stuff should be graded by PCGS or NGC preferably PCGS especially for US coins and you can either try ebay or something like Great Collections auction site on more expensive stuff. You can actually get stuff graded through them cheaper too and even after the fees will very likely come out ahead than you would have a dealer offer or trying to play dealer for the weekend. Post some lists of what you are looking to sell, different things do better in different places

Get excellent pictures, but it'll cost a good sum to get it graded... my opinion is that, take as many goodd pictures as possible and stick it on ebay, and whatever it sells for, so be it. Probably $300-$600. Make sure it starts and ends on a Saturday evening, around 10 pm eastern time (7 pacific) ... thats when a lot of people are on. You'll pay about 13% of final value to ebay and paypal... they will take a pound of flesh.

If his is real selling in that manner would be assured to sell for pennies on the dollar. It is without question worth the cost of grading expensive coins before sales especially for internet sales and sales on ebay by no name sellers.

Well, it's up to you... do you already have good feedback on ebay? Someone with little feedback could lose out more vs someone with higher feedback. The other consideration is the Chinese do counterfeit this coin, so, if you're a no name seller, with little feedback, selling a raw coin, you may look like a stooge and it could under sell quite a bit.... only grade with PCGS, and it'll be $35 with a 15 day turnaround (for sub $3,000 value coins). You have to submit through a dealer that has an account with PCGS. https://www.PCGS.com/servicesandfees. Now if you get a straight grade VF, and it's not details, and if you hold out for a while, maybe: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1889-CC-1-...AOSwDPhdWgTf
