Cherrypicked this at the local show. My first Seated Liberty quarter as well. It's a really bad looking coin (detailed by scratches and what not) but I picked it up because the Cherrypicker's Guide says it's assumed to be extremely rare with a URS-3 rating.

To me,
a cherry pick is a coin that has been bought at a price that is considerably less than its real market value.

That could mean any sort of coin, across the whole of numismatics.

Oh, I thought it meant buying a coin with a variety where the dealer doesn't notice the variety and has it marked as a normal coin. Perhaps, I'm wrong. Oh well, thanks for the suggestion!

Agree, a cherry pick has to do with price. If there is no real added value for a variety (often the case), then finding one unmarked would be interesting but not a real "cherry pick".

Thanks guys. I never knew that was the real definition of a cherrypick. I always assumed since the Cherrypicker's guide related to varieties then it would be only for varieties. Well I guess one can never learn enough. Thanks for help clearing that up.
