An early Christmas present arrived today, and included this really nice Indian Head lamination.

Thanks CoinFrog!

Very nice piece. I'm starting to appreciate Indian Head cents more. As I come across more varieties, they seem to grow on me.

Very nice. Do you think it might be a pre-strike lam?

I was thinking post-strike on this one. While the coin is worn, the devices are still pretty sharp, yet UNITED is heavily distorted. It would seem the lam is thinnest at the U and deepest at the D so the U shows up best. Guessing somewhere out there, at one time, was a neat little lam scrap with pretty much just the word UNITED on it, which makes one dream of that getting struck through onto another coin...
