1967 Washiñgton Liberty Quarter
With a Letter S stuck on the reverse side right above
One of the wings.
I have been online even on a few coin chats,to find out
More about this quarter..a few say it's a MINT ERROR DROPPED LETTER
MADE BY THE MINT.
As I and a few others searched for all the S designs the U.S Mint used
The closes I can get to the design is from the 70's thats something I dont get...So how can I tell if its really a Dropped Letter or not?

it does look like a genuine dropped letter, so yes it is a mint error. As for value, it's not in great condition so not a whole lot, maybe $15-20

..To me it look a like a MMS-007 Sans Serif S But that mint mark was used on 1946 S & 1947 S coins. Can you get a better/closer picture. I don't see how a 47 S mint mark was put on a 1977 unless it was added buy someone out side of the mint.

That's a nice 1977 Washington quarter you found and you did your homework, too. Good job!

CCF coin experts have vast amount of information to share.

Enjoy the hobby.

The biggest issue with this being a dropped letter is this? What 'S' could this fall out of? There's no S that looks like that on that die? The mintmark punches were not used the year this die was created. So, is this incuse on the coin? If so, then it might have been a letter added to this coin? If it were on the die, there'd be several other coins showing the same thing. So I'm leaning towards PSD.

with coop. The only one close to this mint mark is the MMS-007 Sans Serif S mint mark. Problem is that style was only used in 1946 and 1947. No way it could have gotten dropped on a 1977.PSD someone added it.http://lincolncentresource.com/San_..._Styles.html

this coin has been discussed on another coin chat, and better pictures were included, ..

What you are seeing is a "s" that someone stamped into the coin.

I always like to show what I see and why it could/couldn't be. It teaches detective skills. Rather than giving yes or no answers, I like to show what/why and how I come to my conclusions.

I guess at this point you have talked this coin up and might still think its a Dropped S Error. So might I suggest you send it in to MR Wiles for Attribution then you will know for sure, It will only cost ten bucks. Good Luck.
