@GrapeCollects I tend towards it being genuine. Can you tell me what indicators you see that give you doubts?

jstav,

Have you weighed the coin? If so, what is the weight. I tend to agree with Grape on this one. I notice the non-uniform relief in the devices and denticles (some weak, some sharp) and the overall patina and "counterfeit" comes to mind. An easy test would be to weigh it and see if is within tolerance. These are 26.73 grams (- .5 grams for circulated XF).

By the way, thanks for everyone's input!

@SeatedNut

I cannot weigh it now, as I was considering purchasing it from ebay. The seller does not offer a return on it, but does have 100% feedback.

Best advice I can offer - never buy from someone who doesn't offer return privileges.

@Coinfrog Thanks, that is sound advice, however I sell coins and bullion on ebay without return privileges and don't really have any issues selling. And, you can pretty much return anything on ebay even if the seller lists as non-returnable.

all that being said, I'll pass on this one. cheers.

You realize this coin would probably not straight-grade?

I don't like the color or mushy details.

I looked at a bunch of pictures of slabbed ones it did end up looking like a fake to me. One red flag was that the seller had more than 300 graded coins for sale, and this was basically the only raw one.

Sounds like you're taking a pass. Good decision.
