The numeral in the date is showing damage, not a minting error. Something hit that spot on the coin and cut into the copper, distorting the number. It must have happened after the coin was struck, most likely during cirulation, so it's Post Strike Damage or PSD. It's really only worth the copper value now.

Are you sure about the date? The photos look like the coin is a 1935, not a 1963. Does this coin have the Wheat reverse or the Memorial reverse?

@brian, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree with @yokozuna that this coin has taken a couple hits since being struck-one on the date and one below Abe's bust. These are just damage. A '35 cent in this condition would be worth roughly 4 or 5¢.

Yea it is a 35 sorry was helping a friend with a 63 dime must of had it on My mind...theze are bad pictures that is definitely not a gash it is raised looks almost like someone hand punched the slash in the /3 I will try to get a better picture uploaded soon

These photos are fine. Nothing in the minting process could have caused this. If someone did punch the slash through the 3 by hand, it would have been after the strike. ( PSD)
