Here is one that apparently occurred after the strike and is still attached. Yokozuna Pillar of the Community United States 4618 Posts	Posted 11/16/2019 9:42 pm VERY nice coin! This is only the second error I've seen with the burr still attached. It's caused by a chipped blanking die or base plate. When the blank is punched it has the extra metal attached and then it's folded into the planchet by the upset mill. I have a attached rim burr 1974 quarter with the error in the K:8 position. In researching the quarter I found that's it's called a "blanking burr" or "rolling fold" as listed on error-ref.com. Petespockets55 Pillar of the Community United States 5780 Posts	Posted 11/17/2019 11:03 am OK, time to help a feller out. This is a nice coin and I love this example. But it doesn't appear to be a struck through a rim bur because it isn't flattened by the strike. It still has plenty of height and contour in the field and up onto the bust. Wouldn't this be a rim bur that folded over after the strike and is still attached to the coin? Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups. It is not struck through, it is a rim burr that was not struck through but remained attached. I see coins struck through rim burrs all the time, but this is the first time I've found one with an actual rim burr attached, which is what I find nifty about it. Report this Post to the Staff

I thought it was struck through the attached rim burr. My bad! I read the photo incorrectly. It's still an fantastic coin and REALLY interesting error. I would love to have one like this.
