That looks to be from the Italian state of Naples & Sicily. It is C#153c.

I suspect that the "G.120" in the legend refers to the denomination of the coin: 120 Grano.

This is known as a "piastra", or 120 grano coin. It's not particularly scarce, but I have to say I'm a bit concerned about the authenticity of this one. It appears very weakly struck, most notably at the tip of the crown, and in the details inside the shield. Compare it with a genuine one on CoinArchives and you'll see what I mean.

Obtain the weight, if you can; it should be 27.53 grams. What's the provenance?

This coin belongs to a friend of mine. He says it was handed to him from his grandfather who found it while working in a farm field somewhere in Italy. I suppose that would explain the heavy damage on the reverse. It looks like it took a few heavy strikes from something. All of the details showing on the photo at coinarchives.com were on the coin, they were not reflected in my photo. Thank you for the info.

Sap,
I see what you mean by comparing the two coins. There are also some details in the coat of arms which are missing or otherwise irregular on one coin. If I'm ever to collect older world coins, I'll need to be aware of these important details.
