That's a die chip on the 8. They are common on certain coins in the US, but I don't know about these. I hope that helps.

"Filled 8" variety.
These are not too hard to find.
Still a nice collectable coin.

I think I can also see a couple small die cracks.

U to rim and 2nd A to rim, but you may need a loupe to see them.
Also possibly T, P, last E of pence.
