My local coin club is starting a new program to help out its club members who would like to collect the business strikes of the new American Innovation $1 coins but are not interested in purchasing a full roll from the US Mint in order to do so. The club is going to buy a "P" and "D" roll of each issue and make them available to club members as singles.

I'm posting about it with the thought that maybe other clubs would be interested in doing the same for their membership.

Are you going to sell them at cost or above cost to generate a surplus for club funds ?

Great idea!

I usually rely on dealers from the coin shows.

@Pertinax: The Mint charges $32.95 for a roll of 25 - $1.32 each. We will be charging $1.25 each. The program is not meant to be a fundraiser for the club; our annual show provides the club's operating funds. This was just a way to help our members with their collecting.

How many active members in your club and how many are participating in this activity?

@joecoin: The club is medium in size, with just over 100 on the roll. Attendance at our monthly meeting is generally in the 30-40 range.

The idea of the club's American Innovation $1 program was introduced at our November meeting - ten or twelve members indicated they would participate. I believe more members will participate once everyone is aware of the benefit. We will be introducing it to our young collectors group in December, and will likely pick up a few additional participants at that time.
