Is this a DDO? The leg of the R shows a strong split and the U and S are thicker and seem to show signs of doubling.

Hi, chrisof4.

Kindly take pics of WE and TRUS, if your camera has the ability to focus. I checked Wexler's and Variety Vista, there's no attributed 1990 D. The experts can see what you want them to see if you can take good pics of the WE & TRUS. I am seeing something but I can't confirm until you send better pics... I am a newbie who is learning

Thanks.

Here are the closest photos my gear is able to capture. These are with my Plugable camera touching the coin. Unfortunately, the photos get very mushy at this point and I am not sure they are helpful. I wanted to show I did at least make an effort.
For pictures beyond this level of detail, I probably need a DSLR and macro lens where I can open the depth of field, but I just don't have that grade of equipment.

Good try, chrisof4.

Your camera is not capturing what you want the experts to see. Can you try using your cell phone to take pics?

Enjoy... don't stress yourself with a new camera... use what you have right now....

Hi, chrisof4.

I cannot shoot and miss with something not clear. So, kindly go to Wexler's website:

http://doubleddie.com/2345637.html

Click on the completed Kennedy halves, see if your coin matches with some of the notches/split serifs. Try to see with your eyes... not what you want to see. Just remember, no 1990 D Kennedy half has been attributed yet. So, you will not see the date on your coin.

Enjoy looking. Hopefully, you have something new to attribute. Part of coin hobby... Just don't be upset if your expectation is not met...have fun

Sosicoin, thanks for all the input. After taking photos multiple different ways, I think this is PMD. It looks like a shallow and very well placed gouge that starts at the top of the leg on the R and runs the length of the leg. It just happens to neatly split the leg all the way to the bottom and does not extend past the R. I compared this to multiple other 1990D examples while CRH and the devices all look very similar minus this gouge. This is most clearly seen on the closest photos I could take with my Plugable camera. The gouge is not curved like the leg of the R.

I absolutely agree about not seeing what we want to see. The kind honesty found in this forum is one of the things I most appreciate and is why I come here to have my coins vetted. Have an awesome day!
