Hi guys! As a child, I started keeping all of the "Drummer Boy" quarters I found. I then promptly spent them in my teenage years. I found a 1983 Lincoln Cent that was clearly doubled and thought "I bet someone got into trouble for this." I saved it for some years but after moving twice, it is in some unknown box inside another box inside a paper bag inside a sandwich baggie. Safe and sound. Or rather missing. It's going to reappear when I need it most, I've decided.
I was involved in an auto accident a bit over a year ago and without being able to do much, I had to find something to keep me sane. I remembered I had always wanted the time to just sit and go through change and realized I had plenty of time for that! I've raided some of my friends' and family's change jars though no one is safe (tee hee) I've even asked strangers to let me see their pennies.
Now I have a handful of coins I'm questioning and need some serious assistance. There is so much I don't know.
I'm looking forward to learning all I can from everyone here. It's taken some time to get up the nerve to join. I don't do or am not on any other social media so I am illiterate in things like this. Please be gentle? I'm a fast learner. I'm actually about to learn what a .jpg and a .gif are so I can upload my first photo. It's a doozy.
Thanks Guys! Cant wait to get started

Very nice write up on how you started collecting coins .
You know when I first started about 56 years ago there was no internet , forums or social media to learn about the hobby . I had to do it on my own . So I went out and bought a Red Book ( a guide to U.S. coins ) and was amassed at it's contents . So even though you stepped into the right place ( CCF ) for total information , picking up a couple of books or magazines would only add to your knowledge of coins .
