I'm about to submit to PCGS for my first time and I have 2 questions:

1) would a coin such as the 1943/2 nickel have to be submitted under variety attribution, mint errors, or just regularly?
2) when it says maximum value allowed, is that the declared value or the value after grading? Otherwise a coin in AU58 could be worth under 3000 but over 3000 if found to be MS

Thanks for your help!!

Im not sure about the overdate. I guess that would be a variety?
As far as Declared value that for if your coin gets lost. how much do you want for it. I think that's correct

That overdate is automatic. Just submit it as a 43/2 and you don't need the variety fee for that. If you want the FS number also listed though you need to pay the variety fee.

You can put whatever you want within reason. Obviously you can't put double eagles as 300 to submit in the economy tier, but the value is basically for insurance purposes. Whatever you put is the maximum amount of compensation you can get if it gets lost in the mail on the way back or a once in a blue moon thing occurs. Putting more doesn't guarantee the max, but it doesn't limit you either.

Put it down what you think it will be after grading. If you end up getting a higher grade than expected with a big jump you can contact them before it ships out to increase the insurance on the way back
