Just curious - I already found a brown 2008 Lincoln Memorial cent. I wondered how it got brown in less than 7 months of circulation. If I find the coin, I'll post a pic.

Has anyone else found a brown 2008 LMC?

It probably wasn't minted very well - the copper red color just faded off way too soon.

Seven months sounds like plenty of time for the copper to oxidize.

Left on the ground outside or exposed to other harsh environmental circumstances a red copper based coin can turn brown in a matter of days. The problem has always been reversing that effect...nothing found yet that works without leaving signs.

I agree with what is said here. I did a middle school experiment to see how fast a LMC could go from bright red to a dull brown when exposed to various elements. Outside, it completely changed in a matter of a month. So depending on conditions this doesn't surprise me at all.
