1828 Classic Head Half Cent - 13 stars

I just saw @numismatic_student's Half Cent (very nice!) and wanted to share one I recently picked up from a grab bag...

Sorry about the glare - it's from an overhead light, I wanted to show the detail or lack thereof...

In person, this coin is a nice, even, dark brown...

Grades...?

VG details (cleaned), or at least it appears so in these pics. Maybe it's just the lighting.

I'd agree .... looks like VG. Nice coin regardless.

I agree with coinfrog. VG8 details. these photos show the overall look of the coin exactly the same over the entire coin on both sides. not likely for a coin of this age. in the crevices around the devices the crud/dirt looks washed out suggesting a cleaning also. still an overall decent coin and I love the fancy 2's on the 1820's coins. this decade is getting tough to find in decent shape and unaltered surfaces for both cents and Half Cents especially when you start getting close to the VF grades

Thanks for the input - I can see VG-8 details. Not bad for a grab bag find ;)

VG-8 but too hard to tell if it was cleaned from these photos.
