Hello, I am asking for help identifying this coin I have.
it's about an inch and a half across and weighs 38.90 grams

@mw2, first welcome to CCF. Second, those are great pics, but I'm wondering if you could also post a picture or two of the edge. The small parallel lines likely come from grinding off a parting line (from this piece being cast), but I'd like to see this area in more detail. Thx.

Smiling medusa with snakes reverse in the style of some Roman Republican issues but really way too large at 38mm, and way too heavy, crudely executed all around.
I don't know if this is a genuine coin, the heavy filing lines and the pitting are bizarre.

Here are some pictures of the edge. It use to be encrusted with something and was not sure if the lines were damage from cleaning. It was a gift from a close friend.
