I appreciate your comments on these 1881 Morgan marks. They appear to be exacting as though done by some kind of press.

to CCF. It does look like the letter V,so it would be considered a counterstamp or maybe graffiti.

I'd say someone witha V punch was bored. Yes it would be considered a "counterstamp" but since it is pretty much unattributaly to a specific person or business, it is just considered to be damage.
