The dies used to strike this coin were showing their age. The doubling on the incuse letters is Die Deterioration. The die chips look like the common small breaks in the dies where the design goes deep and the details are sharp.

It's up to you if this coin is a keeper or not. I don't think it would bring a price over face value.
