Has anyone ever heard of this error before? I have this Wheat penny in my collection handed down to me from my dad. Its really unique and odd. Its ver thin and light.

Noticing a lot of differences too like the nose is more pointy and the hair looks different on top on forehead. The ear seems angled different to me. The placement of the D seems closer to the date. Ane thats just on the front.

To the Forum.

Your coin appears to be acid etched which would reduce the weight.
Usually the rims are the first to get etched away as in the case of your coin.
Not really an error as it was done after the coin was struck.
The placement of the mint Mark can very as they were punched into the die by hand.

I agree with JimmyD.

When placed in a caustic solution like acid, all the details will be reduced evenly.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

Always look at the rims when you suspect an acid dipped coin. Note them on this coin. Note how they are almost non existent? That is the first clue for these coins.
