Got a couple rolls of 2009 mixed in with my last purchase so figured I'd better check for all those DDRs. A quick scan of a few obverses first produced a surprise! Ended up with 7 DDO-001 from the roll.

2009 FY Lincoln Cent doubled die DDO-001 - later die state - marker is chip on collar to right of LIBERTY

Oh yeah, and there were a bunch of early die state DDR-046 coins in there as well, which looks a whole lot like DDR-004

2009 FY Lincoln Cent doubled die DDR-046 - marker is die crack from O and EDS pre-die chip depression on shoulder

What is doubled on either of these? Because these are not obvious even under magnification. I collect double die quarters and all that I have can be seen rather easily under magnification.

@3193zd,

on the first coin the date has light extra thickness with LIBERTY showing extra thickness East West with light notching. On the DDR the thumb shows a spread towards the south.

Excellent job spotting that DDO on the date. Looks like it can be hard to spot.

And that DDR is a nice easy one to see.

Exactly right on the spotting thing. The DDR was impossible to miss under almost any lighting angle, but the DDO was pretty much a thickness thing. If you aren't used to just spotting the extra letter thickness on modern DDO's you'd probably never pick that one out with a loupe. I didn't see the notching until I put it under the scope.

Very nice TB! Great shape too! I wish Wexler were able to update his website. I have the 2009 D PL DDO-002 (plate coin), it's been over a year since he attributed it and to this day I have yet to see another one posted on the board.

WOW!! Yes I am impressed you found these. I have many DDO and DDR silver quarters and I get push back when there is no clear doubling. I have had several complain that the several notched ends of the letters is really not significant to even discuss. I understand wide spreads as well.I guess LMCs are a different bird!
