Now that this one is safely tucked away in the safety deposit box, it is one I definitely want to share with the community. I acquired this one in late October.
This is a 1971 dollar, struck on a Canadian 10c planchet. It is uniface, which means it caught a ride on a nickel dollar planchet and was struck by the hammer die. This does not necessarily rule out shenanigans at the mint back in the early 1970s... but at least this one is plausible...
Somewhere, out there, is a 1971 nickel dollar with a matching indent...
