I have held many bu rolls of Canadian nickels for 45 years, carrying them with me when I moved , from NH to Cal, to Hawaii and now to Oregon. I was checking a roll of 1959's and noticed a small accumulation of metal at the top of the first 9.Upon checking further I found that all but 10 of 3 rolls (out of 6 rolls) had exactly the same mark. Always the same size. I am including reasonably good pictures. All the rolls are at least choice BU. Is anyone else aware of this particular oddity? It is very easy to spot.

I note now that I put pennies in the name of the topic rather than nickles. My bad. How do I edit the topic name? Help.

A pretty minor die chip. It is not listed in any of the Zoell catalogues.

Thanks for the info. I believe you are right. Still, when you find entire BU rolls with the same die chip, it's kind of exciting.

yontan, nice find. Although everyone is right and it is only a very minor die chip it is still pretty cool you have an entire BU roll with them all having it. If it is something you would like to keep in your collection thats completely up to you but I think they would make more of a conversational piece over anything else.

Although another minor error don't forget to check the Obverse for any die clashes! I have been find a lot of Die Clashes on years prior to 1960!
