Hi,

Came across this nickel with what seems to be an error on part of the rim. Close to the date for about 1/3 of the coin the rim seems to be deep and looks like there are 2 rims over that section. Any ideas on what this is? Worth anything?

Hi m4ec,

This appears to be "finning". Here is a link to an explanation: http://www.error-ref.com/finning/

I've never heard of this commanding a premium, but others may correct me if I'm wrong.

Is the weight normal? It kind of looks like one of the magician coins? If it is normal, then it might be a fin:

If so don't flatten it?
