to CCF, So that cent should weigh in around 2.5 gms making it a copper plated zinc core...what you have there is zinc rot...spend it....good luck on future finds...keep looking

Thanks will do. There is a lot to learn about all of this. I did wonder if it was something different, I have a copper 1982 Large date and it has a defect also but different.
