Hi I've been collecting for a few years now and I came across this 1958 D Wheat penny which looks like a partial date stamped above the original date. Took it to someone that has been collecting coins for 25 years said it was a error but nothing worth much he said maybe $5 if graded maybe $50. I would like to know what kind of error if considered an error at all. Any information would be greatly appreciated..thank you

to CCF. Are the numbers raised or indent?

Something is really off about this image, the color is highly unusual. You don't usually see gray on a copper coin. I think this may have been photoshopped.

The outline around the date is also highly suspect. I think this is an overlayed image masked to the color of the coin above the date.

Let me see another pic.

Not sure what caused it but I am sure it didn't happen during the striking of
the coin so it can't be an error. Looks intentionally done.

Of course it's not photoshopped.Smh I'll take more pictures and post as soon as I get home but the color is what made it stand out very bright. I thought maybe somebody before me cleaned it cause it's bright and shiny but then I seen the numbers above the date. I don't know but ill post more pics shortly ty

You can clearly see the D mint mark hiding behind the 8, I honestly don't think theres anyway this is possible other than photoshop, and if it was photoshopped it was very poorly done, also notice on the real date on the coin is extremely pixelated but the "shadow date" isn't, this is because someone tried to cut around the original date to make the shadow/overlay seem hidden behind leaving pixelated outlines around the numbers.

Anyone with basic photoshopping skills could pull this off, why people do this I couldn't tell you but I'm willing to bet money it ain't real.

I'd love to see some more pics though, not that it will change my mind to be fairly honest.

PS, whoever did it also forgot to crop out the rest of the coins shadow on the top right when messing with the transparency, also the numbers are way bigger than they are suppose to be (because it was scaled up too big).
