I have a raw 1847 Seated dollar in F12 to F15 condition. I was looking at the die marriages and to my untrained eye it appears that the coin is an OC-4 die marriage which is fairly rare. Would a rare die marriage add any value to the coin? I would imagine that only collectors' that collect die marriage pairs might see some value but how about the average collector?

Here's the link that I used.

Thanks
Joe

Yes, but to a VERY limited group of people.
You won't find many SL dollar collectors that get that deep into those coins.
So ID'ing and pricing them is not easy.

I think(?) there's a SL society but you'll have to do some online searching to find them.

Thanks for your reply kanga.

I currently have someone interested in this coin and I wanted to pass along as much information as possible. I did spend some time trying to match up the die pairs and it wasn't as easy as it appeared.

Yes, if it's a rare die pair, and you're not in a hurry to sell, I think there is added value. Not sure how much though, you could check the Heritage archives.

@edweather Thanks for the Heritage archives suggestion. Lots of informative information available there.
