This will be the REAL first test of what the Buffalo nickel will actually do? Of course, us collectors will purchase as usual, but what other demand will be garnered by this offering. I think we will see proof sets BACK ORDERED very quickly as it appears the new Buffalo nickel has made the FRONT PAGE of most major newspapers in the last few days. This should be very interesting and I don't think ANYONE should hesitate to get proof set orders (clad or silver) in this year. Definitely DON'T want to wait until the Xmas season like many did last year. The goodies will be gone again!

Mine are on subscription, now if the first ones I get are keepers ,, last 2 years I had to return them for various reasons and wait for the replacements to arrive .

Guess I have been very lucky as I have never returned any coins or proof sets to the Mint.

I have never sent any of them back either, Terry. But then maybe that is because I don't look at each one of them with a labratory microscope.
If I can't see the "flaw" with my naked eye, then it's usually good enough of me. If I find one with a "flaw" it goes into the junk drawer with the rest of the trash.

I would not suggest sending any back this year. If they are flawed, swap a dealer for a new set. You may loose a dollar or two in the deal, but you will have them. This set will spike in value early. Depending on how many issues are created, this could be another set comparable to the 99 sets. The Mint knows that this one will be hot, but that doesn't always equate to higher mintages. They play the game as well as anyone.

Last year, one set had a broken case and another a big black spot on the sheild of the half, very plainly seen with the naked eye,,I just couldnt talk myself into keeping a coin like that ,2003 the nickel had a scratch across the obverse field and three micro black spots on the sheild of the half, again I could not see keeping flawed supposedly perfect coins .

Im glad I did ,2004 set is flawless as of yesterday, I had it out ,, also the same with the 2003.

By the way, both my 2000 set and my 1999 set the State Quarters are toning a really pretty gold color,, anyone else notice this with theirs ?
