I have an opportunity to pick up 10 1971-S Eisenhower dollars in MS condition ranging from 61-65 and are all PL. The asking price is $8 per coin. Good price? To high? I suspect they're just being called that though and wouldn't grade out as PL. Unless it is legitimately PL I would stay away from ones that were 63 or lower and really 64 or lower. The banged up ones can be hard to sell for more than silver if you decide you don't want them anymore 8 is a fine price for a normal one. Some people sell them for a little less others more. I doubt the ones offered are actually PL since PL is somewhat scarce though. A nice PL is worth quite a bit more than $8. Don't buy coins for investment. It's usually a bad bet unless you know exactly what you are doing. As you learn more in the hobby you'll see bargains and these are OK. Indeed, if you find a bargain you expect to increase in value then you can hold onto it a while. Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps. Report this Post to the Staff

If they are proofs, check for doubled dies and, most importantly, the Nightcrawler variety. If these are the business strikes (blue) Ikes, then I am quite certain they will not be PL. The silver '71-S blue Ikes are arguably the worst issue in the entire series. Most look dull, lifeless, and downright ugly. However, if they all look like this, buy every single one of them.
