1942 1 Cent Penny With Thicker Devices And Notches

JohnWayne007 Pillar of the Community Canada 1186 Posts	Posted 12/24/2019 03:34 am So I have a few coins I have been looking at and while I was photographing some of them I noticed this one that I would like your guys opinions on, so I took my microscope and started poking around and at first I thought it looked like Machine Doubling, so I took another 1942 in roughly the same condition and noticed that this ones devices seem a lot thicker than the other one. Here is a photo of both 1942 taken from the same distance... The next photo you see here is what I originally thought (and most likely is) just MD but from what I have been told MD will make the devices smaller and not bigger, even though it looks like MD the devices are still a lot thicker than the other 1942 coin I have shown in the first pic. I started looking around some more for any visible notches and I found this on the top right of the 1 in "1 Cent" and the one on the right is the bottom of the 1 in the 1942 date. Does this look like a possible DDR? I only ask because of the notches and the devices being noticeably thicker, other than that I originally thought it was just Machine Doubling. Thank you in advance. Mortar set is from the chipping of the chromium plating on the dies. In 1942, this as plating fragments removed around the leaves. Zoell EF65n is the only one I have seen from that date. 1942 is the first year they chrome-plated the 1c dies.
