Looks like it was struck multiple times. There's 2 7s right next to the original and it looks as if it broke off and ended up by liberty

What you have is a damage, the metal has been scraped along side of the 7, most likely by going through a mechanical device.

You would think it would get lighter. It weighs almost 3.2 and is bigger when I overlay with a normal DDO. THE clarity of my pics gets destroyed when I compress, looks like a jumbled mess when I zoom

with Chase007, the flattening came from circulation damage, wear and tear. If it were the 1917 DDO-001 you would clearly see a split in the top curl of the 9 as well as separation in the words IGWT, especially the word TRUST. I am not seeing any of those markers. I am pretty blessed to have one of these in my collection.

Knowing where notching should be on this die will help to see what it is not a DDO.
